Introduction
The Chippewa Valley Cultural Association (CVCA) was created to accomplish two main goals: (1) to save the McDonell High School Building from destruction and restore it as a venue for the creative industry in the Chippewa Valley; and (2) to provide a venue and an opportunity for local artists, performers, writers and creative producers to explore, grow and share their talents with others in the region and beyond. As a venue for learning and growth within the creative industry, the CVCA seeks also to bring in performers from outside the region as well with the vision of exposing people to the talents of people from around the world.
The creative industry is an important driver for community development, yet it must be recognized that the industry as a whole needs constant financial support. Richard Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of the Johnson Financial Group (winner of the 2005 Governor’s Award for Supporter of the Arts), said that “Art is the glue that holds people together. It gives us a common bond. It makes our business better.” The Johnson Financial Group goes beyond these words to support the arts throughout Wisconsin by donating both time and financial resources. The Chronicle of Philanthropy recently released an article summarizing the results of three university studies showing "For every dollar a retail company, bank or popular-goods manufacturer adds to its charitable-giving budget, it can expect sales to grow by an average of $6 (February 8, 2007)."
The CVCA has created a sponsorship package that offers an opportunity for area businesses and philanthropic individuals and organizations to sponsor their favorite programs, performances or artists. There are many ways that a group or individual can sponsor programming at the Heyde Center. On one hand, a sponsor can subsidize or fund a type of programming that allows the entire family to participate such as children’s plays, musical groups, or dance classes aimed at the young and the old. On the other hand, the sponsor could subsidize or fund a particular group that they love or would like to see or hear perform. The CVCA is interested in working with everyone in the community interested in supporting the arts and culture.
Benefits to Businesses
Sponsors of programming at the Heyde Center for the Arts will receive many benefits. The most important benefit is knowing that the sponsor has contributed to improving the quality of life in the Chippewa Valley by supporting people’s access to quality art and cultural events. It is important to note that the CVCA/Heyde Center for the Arts is committed to greatly improving its communication and marketing strategy, giving more prominence to its sponsors than it has in the past. The first big step is a revision of the CVCA website along with a new design from a Chicago-based graphic artist. In addition, the CVCA is expanding its marketing through different media (radio, television, other print) and more targeted, direct mailing to people interested in a certain type of arts and/or cultural event. Some of the benefits to businesses are outlined on the next page.

The sponsor of a program will receive tickets to the events, depending on the level of sponsorship. If the sponsor calls ahead of time, he or she can request special seating be reserved.
